Last month, from September 9-11, 2024, the International Entrepreneurship Forum (IEF) marked its 20th year with a vibrant and intellectually stimulating conference in Porto, Portugal, co-organized with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and Critical Ventures, a VC firm based in Porto, and under the auspices of the Regional Science Association Research Network for Citizen Entrepreneurship project. With the theme “CONNECTING TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION, AND SOCIETY: AN ENTREPRENEURIAL CITIZEN-FOCUSED APPROACH,” the event brought together over 70 delegates and 35 esteemed speakers from 11 countries for three days of insightful discussions and idea exchange.
This year’s conference explored eight critical sub-themes:
The sessions fostered a wide range of perspectives on how technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship can drive societal progress and create impactful change. Each session provided space for discourse on the issues and crucially, explored how citizens in different regions around the world can and do get engaged with these issues to respond to the meta problems of our day. The presentations, workshops, and panels offered new insights and sparked engaging debates, highlighting the evolving role of citizen-focused entrepreneurship in today’s world.
For those who want to revisit the key moments of the conference or who were unable to attend, we are pleased to share photos and audio recordings of the event. You can access them through the following links:
