Sarika Pruthi is Associate Professor at the School of Global Innovation and Leadership, at the Lucas College & Graduate School of Business, San Jose State University (SJSU), California (USA). She teaches both introductory and advanced undergraduate and graduate (MBA) courses in entrepreneurship and international business.
Sarika’s research is in the areas of immigrant entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and venture capital/ private equity finance. Her work has appeared in several top peer-reviewed academic journals including the Asia Pacific Journal of Management, International Business Review, International Journal of Management Reviews, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, and Strategic Management Journal, among others. Among her most recent projects is an essential textbook on global entrepreneurship and innovation. She is also co-editing a special issue on transnational entrepreneurs for the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Economies that she serves as an editorial board member.
Sarika is Program Co-Chair of the Teaching & Learning Conference at the Academy of Management (TLC@AOM), probably the largest and most successful teaching conference in management. At SJSU, she chairs the International Programs & Students Committee, and organizes the annual Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge, a premier business ideas competition at the university.
Sarika has received several awards and honors for her work, including the ‘extremely competitive’ Weir-Galm Award, and Master Teacher Award, for her contributions to research and teaching at SJSU. In Spring 2019, she was nominated for the Distinguished Teacher Award at the College of Business. Prior to joining SJSU in 2014, she taught and researched at King’s College London, University of London, and the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom) where she also earned her MA and PhD.
