Professor Jay Mitra is the ๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐ ๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ (IEF) and Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at Leuphana University of Lรผneburg in Lรผneburg, Germany. From 2004 to 2025, he served as the founding Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Essex Business School, University of Essex, UK.
He has led IEF for over 21 years, hosting a unique annual event that promotes intellectual curiosity, discourse, and reflections on different approaches to and forms of entrepreneurship, innovation, economic and social development. This mission has been driven through collaborations with institutions, public agencies, industry, and individuals from across the world. Jay is also ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ-๐ข๐ง-๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ of the ๐ฝ๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ธ๐๐ก๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ โ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ก๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ธ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ธ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (SAGE), the ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ธ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ธ๐๐ก๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ โ๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐กโ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ on Entrepreneurship in Society. He serves as Editor of the ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ธ๐๐ก๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ โ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐๐ ๐๐๐ข๐กโ ๐ด๐ ๐๐ - ๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐ก๐ข๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฃ๐๐ . His contributions span journal articles, research monographs, consultancy reports, and widely adopted academic texts published by SAGE, Palgrave, and Springer.
He sits on the board of the International Network for SMEs (INSME, Rome), and has worked in a consultative capacity with the OECD - OCDE, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the British Council, as well as with multinational companies, SMEs, public sector bodies, and international development agencies.
Jayโs work continues to shape global conversations at the intersection of entrepreneurship, research, education, and policy. His presence at IEF 2025 will resonate with researchers, educators, public sector professionals, and innovation leaders who are committed to building more inclusive and impactful entrepreneurial ecosystems.
