Chux is Professor of Entrepreneurship Management and the SBDG Chair in Entrepreneurship in Higher Education in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences of the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.

He has a multidisciplinary background that encompasses degrees in library studies, industrial and organisational psychology, and human resources management. Chux worked in the private sector, leading strategy talks for international corporations, prior to entering academia. At the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, he served as head of department of entrepreneurship before joining the deanery in the faculty of business and management sciences as assistant dean of research. Serving as HoD, he led a team that designed and developed various entrepreneurship programs. As dean of research, Chux emphasised the need for productive entrepreneurship research that should lead to accelerated interest in entrepreneurship among students.

He is a member of the editorial boards of several scholarly periodicals, such as the Journal of Distribution Science, the Palgrave Encyclopaedia of Entrepreneurship, and the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Economies. Additionally, he serves on the advisory board of False Bay College's Center for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubation (CFERI).

Research on socioeconomic problems in developing nations, particularly that which has to do with socioeconomic growth, excites Chux. The over 30 master's and doctoral research projects he has successfully overseen, as well as the over 150 publications, provide evidence of this interest.

He is currently assessing how the manufacturing sector in the provincial government of Western Cape of South Africa might facilitate the up- skilling of semi‐skilled personnel.
