
Prof ILE earned her PhD at the University of Pretoria about 20 years ago and is presently a Professor at the School of Government, University of the Western Cape, South Africa. She has about 25 years’ experience in academia and supervises large numbers of post graduate students. Her wealth of experience includes collaborative work with Harry S.Truman’s School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri, Ruhr Universitat, Bochum Germany, University of Aberdeen and the University of Port Harcourt, amongst others. She has presented several papers in various conferences locally and internationally, published over 50 academic outputs in accredited Public Administration journals and/or book chapters, in addition to having published 7 books. As an established researcher and a National Research Fund (NRF) rated scientist, she has served as part of various editorial teams, guest editor to international journal and is currently an Editor of the African Journal of Public Administration and Management (AJPAM), the premier journal of the African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM). Isioma is also a member of various professional bodies such as the Association of Southern African Schools and Departments of Public Administration and Management (ASSADPAM), South African Association for Public and Administration & Management (SAAPAM) and the Canadian African Association studies (CAAS). She has tremendous passion for the continent as demonstrated by her contribution to public sector skills development and reform in Nigeria, South Africa and South Sudan and many others. Her current interests are around governance and policy reforms in Africa, specifically its interface with Indigenous Knowledge Systems (including indigenous entrepreneurial approaches), Social Policy Monitoring and Evaluation. Her 2025 book is entitled Political Governance and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and is published by the international publishing house – Springer.
