- Marcus Dejardin is Full Professor (Professeur ordinaire) of Economics at the Université catholique de Louvain and the Université de Namur. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Namur (2007). His thesis was titled “Essays in the Economics of Entrepreneurship”.
- He is chairing the Development, Finance and Public Policies (DeFiPP) Research Institute of the Université de Namur.
- He has expertise in the economics of entrepreneurship and innovation, regional economics, and public policy analysis, and has developed an interest in multidisciplinary research design.
- His numerous publications in journals such as Applied Economics, Small Business Economics, The Review of Managerial Science, Journal of Business Venturing Insights, The Journal of Technology Transfer, International Review of Entrepreneurship, Annals of Regional Science, Plos One, Social Sciences & Humanities Open, bear witness to this.
- Marcus is director of the Chair of Excellence for Research and Expertise in Entrepreneurship (CHEREE) and of the CERPE, Université de Namur, and academic member of LIDAM-CIRTES, Université catholique de Louvain.
- He is founding editor of the New Economics Papers – Entrepreneurship Newsletter; editor of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal; associate editor of The Annals of Regional Science; and member of the Editorial Review Board of several other economics and regional science journals.
- He is also a coopted member of the Belgian Central Economic Council.
- Marcus is a former Ameritech visiting scholar at the Institute for Development Strategies, SPEA, Indiana University Bloomington (USA), and visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute of Economics, Jena (Germany).
