Dr. Santanu Roy

Dr. Santanu Roy is the Professor and Chair, Master of Business Administration at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

He had earlier served at IMT Dubai as the Professor-in-Charge, Dual Country Program. Earlier, Prof. Roy was the Officiating Dean (Academic Administration) and Chairperson, Research and Doctoral Programs at IMT, Ghaziabad, India. Prior to joining IMT, he was an Associate Professor at Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. Dr. Roy had earlier served as Senior Principal Scientist and Head, Human Resource Group at National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS), New Delhi, a constituent establishment of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He received ERASMAS MUNDAS Teaching Fellowship (European Commission) and taught Logistics Management at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Prof. Roy received the Best Teacher in Operations Management Award at 2nd Asia’s Best B-School Awards, SUNTEC, Singapore, on 22 July 2011.

Prof. Roy is a Ph.D. from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, IIT Kharagpur and an Integrated Master of Science (M.S.) in Physics from IIT Delhi. He was a recipient of the National Science Talent Search Scholarship in the year 1975, a scholarship instituted by NCERT, Government of India.

Dr. Roy has carried out many sponsored research and consultancy assignments for organizations such as UNDP, DANIDA, University of Essex, UK, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI), NISSAT, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India and Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. He has a deep connect with industry having been a Corporate Trainer for HINDALCO Ltd, CPWD, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, and the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) in India and the Landmark Group in Dubai, UAE. Prof. Roy had served as the Policy Council Member of the Systems Dynamics Society, headquartered at State University of New York (SUNY), Albany, New York, USA during the period 2005-2008.
